Better Window Switcher is a window switcher for macOS. Instead of the flat row of app icons that Command-Tab shows, it displays every open window, and every browser tab, as a card in real 3D with a picture of its contents. It is aimed at people who keep more than a few windows open.
The key difference is the unit it switches between. Command-Tab moves between apps, while this app moves between individual windows and individual tabs. A Chrome or Safari tab gets its own place, so users land on the tab they meant instead of opening the browser and hunting for it.
Users press Option-Tab, a shortcut of their own, or swipe up with three fingers on the trackpad. Every window flies out into 3D. They cycle through the cards and release on the one they want. With a mouse or trackpad, the selection follows the pointer, with a haptic tick as each window lands.
For faster access, users press space inside the switcher and type. Windows and tabs narrow down together, the best match is already selected, and releasing the shortcut opens it. Matching covers the app name, window title and website, and it forgives small typos. Macs are required to be Apple Silicon running macOS 14 or later.
The app offers seven arrangements: Cover Arc, Carousel, Ring, Flip 3D, Panorama, Grid and a flat 2D Row. Backdrop, spacing, titles and reflections are adjustable. A video playing in the current window keeps playing in the switcher, and windows on other desktops, minimized, hidden or full-screen all appear.
Tabs from Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Brave, Edge, Vivaldi and Opera stack into one pile per window, each showing the site icon. Finder and Terminal tabs work the same way. Private browsing windows can be shown, blurred, partly hidden or excluded. Other touches include a flick-back shortcut to the last window and dropping a file onto a window.
It is a macOS window switcher that shows every open window and browser tab as a 3D card. Users open it with a shortcut or a three-finger swipe up and pick a window, or press space and type to search.
