Brilliant is a professional 2D vector design tool built for people and AI agents to work on the same canvas. Its maker calls it a full Figma-class editor, with direct manipulation, auto layout, components, design tokens, a pen tool, boolean operations and shaders.
What sets it apart is how AI fits in. Brilliant also runs as an MCP server, so large language models can read and write designs directly. The results are real vector shapes you can grab and edit by hand, not code hidden behind a preview.
Agents write to the canvas through Blueprint, a compact text language that Brilliant says is about 20x leaner than the alternative. Every edit passes two checks: a validator that rejects bad lines before the canvas sees them, and a composition linter that checks real geometry, including spacing and contrast, afterward.
You can work with agents in two ways. The built-in chat is docked in the app, lets you @-mention elements, and runs parallel sessions. Or you can connect an outside agent over MCP, such as Claude Code, Cursor or Codex. A per-turn revert undoes the agent's turn while keeping your own edits.
The editor covers vector networks, a pen tool, masking, boolean operations, styled text, layout grids, effects and blur, device frames and rulers. Frames use hug, fill and fixed sizing, and components support masters, instances and per-instance overrides. A GPU engine renders liquid glass, metal and about 50 shader presets that work as fills.
Design systems use tokens, light and dark modes, custom axes and multi-brand overlays, so one edit carries through every screen. Designs can be saved as plain-text .bl files with version control, imported from Figma, Sketch, SVG and images, and exported to PNG, WebP, SVG, PDF, video, React and HTML/CSS.

The Free plan costs $0 forever. Personal is $20 per month and Max is $100 per month, with prices listed as of October 14, 2026. A Team tab also appears on the pricing page, but its details are not included in the source.
Yes. The editor is free and includes every design feature, public projects and drops with 2 GB of storage, and unlimited canvas work from your own agents over MCP. Brilliant AI is included to try, and your own AI is limited to 10 messages a day.
Brilliant works with any MCP-speaking agent. The docs include setup pages for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Codex and GitHub Copilot in VS Code. The app also has its own built-in chat that uses Brilliant AI by default or your own keys.
Yes. Brilliant lists Figma import as a feature and says files come across intact. It also imports Sketch files, SVG and images, and the feature list includes Figma export.
Brilliant offers downloads for macOS and Windows. The company also runs a web presence at brilliant.design for publishing, collaboration and viewing projects. Some features are macOS-only or have remapped shortcuts on Windows.
Brilliant exports PNG, WebP, SVG, PDF and video in MP4 or MOV. It can also copy designs out as React or HTML/CSS. Designs are saved as plain-text .bl files that work with version control.
The source positions it for founders and small teams who need design work without a design hire, as well as product designers and design engineers. The free plan includes every design feature, while private projects and larger storage require the $20 per month Personal plan.
