Buildra is an AI app builder. A user describes an app in their own words, and an agent builds it in a sandbox the user can watch, keeps asking questions until the result is right, and publishes it to its own address. It covers web apps, phone apps, backends and scripts, and the source code can be downloaded.
The company says it began in 2025, out of frustration with AI code tools that wrote code but never ran it. Buildra is built by a solo founder, Amir Elgammal, and questions reach him directly at support@buildra.dev. The builder is available in English, Arabic, Spanish and French.
How does Buildra work?
Buildra works in five stages: plan, design, build, preview and publish. The user describes the app, Buildra asks what it needs to know, and it proposes a plan. Nothing changes until the plan is approved. It then shows design directions to pick from, and builds while the user watches, asking in the same thread when it needs a decision.
Each project has its own sandbox that runs the app. It starts in seconds, sleeps when the user leaves and wakes on return, so the preview is the real app. One click publishes to a buildra.page address. A failed publish leaves the live site untouched, and the user can roll back to an earlier version.
Key features of Buildra
The agent chooses a starting point from the first prompt: TanStack Start for web by default, Next.js on request, Expo for iOS and Android, Phaser for browser games, Hono for APIs, or a plain project for scripts. Web projects include a Cloudflare D1 database and better-auth sign-in. Users can point at the preview to request changes or edit text in place.
Other features include preview links for sharing before publishing, optional remixing of published projects, and MCP access so an outside AI agent can create and publish projects. Standard is the everyday mode, while Max, on Builder and Pro, spends more credits on harder work. Code can be downloaded or mirrored one way to GitHub.
Key Features
Plan mode — For larger requests the agent proposes a plan first and changes nothing in the project until the user approves it.
Live sandbox preview — Each project runs in its own sandbox, and the preview is the running app, updated as the agent works. The sandbox sleeps when the user leaves and wakes on return.
Point and ask editing — For small changes, users point at a part of the preview and say what should differ, or edit text in place.
Stack chosen from the first prompt — The agent starts from TanStack Start (or Next.js on request) for web, Expo for iOS and Android, Phaser for games, Hono for APIs, or a plain project for scripts, CLIs and libraries.
Built-in database and sign-in — Web projects come with a Cloudflare D1 database and better-auth sign-in already wired in, and run on Cloudflare Workers.
One-click publish with rollback — Publishing puts the app on its own buildra.page address on every plan. A failed publish leaves the live site untouched, and users can roll back or take the site offline.
Custom domains — On Starter and higher, a published web app can use the user's own domain through CNAME and TXT records, with HTTPS issued automatically.
Phone apps on a real phone — Native projects open through Expo Go while being built. Free accounts can build an Android APK; paid plans add iOS builds and uploads to App Store Connect (TestFlight) and Google Play.
GitHub import and one-way mirror — Users can import a repository through a read-only GitHub App and mirror every agent commit to a repository they own. The source also downloads as a .tar.gz on any plan.
Preview sharing and remixing — A preview link can be shared before publishing, and published projects can allow others to copy the code into their own account.
Standard and Max modes — The agent runs on premium AI models on every plan. Standard is the everyday mode, and Max, on Builder and Pro, thinks harder and costs more credits.
MCP connection — An outside AI agent can sign in over MCP with OAuth to create a project, send it messages and publish it, and the connection can be revoked at any time.
Pros & Cons
Pros
Free plan with no credit card, 3 projects, one-click publishing and source download, so a first version can ship without paying.
The preview is the running app in its own sandbox, so users see whether features work while they are being built.
Plan mode means nothing changes until the user approves, and the agent asks questions in the same thread.
Covers web, phone apps, APIs and scripts, with a database and sign-in already wired into web projects.
Source downloads as a .tar.gz on any plan, with an optional GitHub mirror, so there is no stated lock-in.
The builder interface is available in English, Arabic (right to left), Spanish and French.
Cons
Usage is credit-based, and the free plan is capped at 25 credits a month, which limits larger projects.
Free sites carry a Buildra badge and sleep after 2 minutes; a custom domain, iOS builds and no badge need a paid plan.
The GitHub mirror is one way: no branches, pull requests or CI, and changes pushed on GitHub do not return to the project.
Team workspaces, SSO, audit logs and volume pricing are not available yet, and the product is built by a solo founder.
Pricing
Free $0 monthly
Starter $25 monthly, or $250 a year
Builder $50 monthly, or $500 a year
Pro from $100 monthly, or $1,000 a year
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Buildra?
Buildra is an AI app builder. You describe an app in your own words, and an agent builds it in a sandbox you can watch, keeps talking to you until it is right, and publishes it to its own address. It covers web apps, phone apps, backends and scripts, and the source is yours to download.
How much does Buildra cost?
Buildra has a free plan, then Starter at $25 a month, Builder at $50 a month, and Pro from $100 a month. Yearly billing is $250, $500 and $1,000 respectively. Extra credits cost $0.25 each on paid plans, and prices are in US dollars.
Does Buildra have a free plan?
Yes. Free gives 5 credits a day, up to 25 a month, and up to 3 projects, with no credit card. Free projects can be published to buildra.page with a small Buildra badge, and the source can be downloaded.
Do I need coding experience to use Buildra?
No. Buildra says no coding experience is needed, since users describe the app in natural language. Users who do code can download the source on any plan or mirror commits to a GitHub repository they own.
Can I export my code from Buildra?
Yes. The source downloads as a .tar.gz on any plan. You can also connect a GitHub repository you own so every commit the agent makes is pushed there, although the mirror runs one way and Buildra does not create the repository for you.
What does Buildra integrate with?
Buildra connects to GitHub for import and mirroring, and to outside AI agents over MCP. Web projects run on Cloudflare with a D1 database and better-auth sign-in, and phone apps use Expo and EAS. Stripe, Resend and PostHog are written into your project's code by the agent.
Can Buildra build phone apps?
Yes. Buildra builds Expo apps that open on your own phone through Expo Go while the agent works. Free accounts can build an Android APK, and paid plans add iOS builds and uploads to App Store Connect and Google Play from your own developer accounts.
Does Buildra offer an enterprise plan?
Not yet. Team workspaces, SSO, audit logs and volume pricing are planned but not available. Teams can email support@buildra.dev to describe what they need.
