CoGrader is an AI-powered, rubric-based grader and feedback platform built for written assignments. It is aimed at teachers and schools that want to give students specific feedback on essays and open-ended work without spending weeks on grading.
The company says more than 100,000 teachers at more than 16,000 US schools use it, and that it has graded more than 2.5 million essays with AI. It reports that teachers spend 80% less time grading.
Teachers stay in control. Every score and comment can be reviewed and changed before students see it, and the platform is positioned as a teaching assistant rather than a replacement for teacher judgment.
A teacher starts by importing an assignment from Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology, Brightspace, Blackboard or DMAC, or by uploading PDFs, DOCX files or photos of handwriting. The next step is attaching a rubric, either from the library of more than 500 options or one the teacher builds.
CoGrader then scores each submission against the rubric and drafts feedback in a Glow and Grow format, with scores shown per criterion. A status column marks submissions as approved or needing review, so teachers can focus on the uncertain ones.
Once reviewed, scores and feedback can be pushed back to the LMS gradebook or exported as a gradebook CSV.
Grading support covers typed and handwritten work. For paper essays, CoGrader reads the handwriting, sorts pages by student and grades each one against the rubric. Teachers can snap pages with a phone, scan at the copier or import photos from an LMS.
The rubric library draws on state standards and AP courses such as AP Lang, with examples for Texas STAAR, California CAASPP and Florida B.E.S.T. An AI rubric generator builds new standards-aligned rubrics.
Paid plans add a grammar check, an originality report with AI detection and plagiarism results, and a class dashboard. Analytics show class averages, performance by criterion, common growth areas, and students ready for enrichment or needing reteaching.
CoGrader is an AI-powered, rubric-based grader and feedback platform for written assignments. Teachers import student work, attach a rubric, and review suggested scores and comments before sharing them with students.
