ForecastX is a statistical forecasting add-in built to run inside Microsoft Excel, sold by John Galt Solutions, a supply chain planning software vendor founded in 1996. Rather than requiring users to learn a separate forecasting platform, ForecastX plugs directly into existing Excel workbooks and applies its ProCast engine to automatically test more than 25 statistical forecasting methods, selecting the best-fit model for the data without manual configuration. Beyond basic forecast generation, ForecastX supports multi-level hierarchy management for rolling up forecasts across products, locations, or customers; ABC/Pareto analysis to prioritize planning effort on the highest-impact items; modeling of the impact of promotions and one-off events on demand; and forecasting for new products using data from comparable existing products. It also includes consensus/collaborative planning workflows so demand, sales, and finance stakeholders can align on a single forecast, along with safety stock optimization, inventory-level management, forecast accuracy tracking, and reporting, plus integration into ERP systems. The product is aimed at supply chain, demand-planning, and S&OP teams in sectors John Galt Solutions names as customers, including apparel, chemicals, consumer products, food and nutrition, retail, wholesale distribution, hi-tech, manufacturing, beverages, life sciences, and aftermarket parts. John Galt Solutions is privately held, lists named enterprise customers such as Mars, Continental, and Amcor, and was recognized as a Leader in a 2022 Gartner Magic Quadrant, with analyst-recognition badges carried through 2023-2025.

Key Features

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Runs directly inside Microsoft Excel, so planners can generate forecasts without leaving their existing spreadsheets.
  • The ProCast engine automatically tests 25+ statistical methods and selects the best-fit model, reducing manual trial-and-error.
  • Two-tier pricing ($59 and $99/month) is transparent and accessible to smaller teams, not just large enterprises.
  • Backed by John Galt Solutions, a supply chain planning vendor founded in 1996 and named a Leader in a 2022 Gartner Magic Quadrant.

Cons

  • Several higher-value capabilities — hierarchy management, ABC/Pareto analysis, and consensus planning — are gated behind the pricier Standard tier, not included in the entry-level Lite plan.
  • The product page does not publish security/compliance certifications or a dedicated FAQ section.
  • As an Excel add-in, its scope is narrower than a full end-to-end planning suite; John Galt Solutions sells a separate broader platform (Atlas) for wider supply chain orchestration.
