What is NotchMind?

NotchMind is a native macOS app that turns the notch on a MacBook into a small workspace. Instead of leaving the notch unused, it shows music, files, clipboard history, timers, downloads and short system updates in the spot where the eyes already go.

It ships with 28 tools and is sold by an independent maker as a one-time purchase. It is built for Macs with Apple silicon on macOS 15 or later, and it is not affiliated with Apple.

How does NotchMind work?

Moving the pointer to the top of the screen opens the notch. From there, users can control music, drag files up to the Tray, watch a download fill the notch, or start a timer. Events such as plugging in power, connecting AirPods or changing the volume appear briefly and then clear.

Clipboard actions, Secret Guard checks and text recognition in images run on the Mac, and no account is needed. An optional Smart Mode, off by default, sends short text snippets to NotchMind's server for classification. Files and screenshots are never uploaded.

Key features of NotchMind

The tools fall into groups. Media covers music with lyrics and speaker switching, lock-screen playback and a camera mirror. Files covers the File Tray, AirDrop, downloads, a converter for formats like PNG, JPEG, HEIC, PDF and ZIP, and screenshot handling. Clipboard history keeps up to 500 items.

Other tools cover timers, reminders, weather, calendar, notifications, volume and brightness, battery, AirPods, drives, CPU and memory graphs. Makers get JSON, Base64 and UUID tools, Codex and Claude Code token usage, Dodo Payments revenue and Plausible or Umami traffic. Four finishes include Liquid Glass.
