PACR is a research workspace that combines literature search, paper organization, manuscript writing, collaboration and publication tracking in one product. The company describes it as a single workspace from question to publication, meant to replace the mix of search engines, reference managers, PDF folders and notes apps that many researchers juggle for one project.
PACR searches more than 500 million research records drawn from scholarly sources including PubMed, Crossref, DOAJ, arXiv and bioRxiv. Its website says it is supported by Harvard University. The product is built for individual researchers, graduate students, clinicians, laboratories and scientific teams, and is operated by Pacr Corporation.
A project starts with a research question. In the Research Assistant, users choose Quick Search for a fast sourced answer, Deep Search for synthesis across a larger body of evidence, Research Gaps to explore what is missing, or Classic Search for precise keyword control. Answers show inline citations and a list of source papers so each claim can be checked.
Useful papers are saved to a library, organized into folders and subfolders, read as PDFs inside PACR and annotated with notes. From there, users draft against the library so sources stay in view, cite from saved papers and export references. Publications and activity then feed a research record and profile that can be shared.
On the discovery side, PACR offers four search modes, cited answers and over 2,700 citation styles. Deep Search is described as surfacing conflicts between studies instead of averaging them away, and results can be filtered by study type such as randomized trials and cohorts, with a quality filter.
For organization and teamwork, PACR provides research libraries, PDF reading, notes, annotations, tasks, discussions and a record of who changed what. Libraries can be public or private. The Track and Share area adds publication tracking, publication statistics by year, research profiles and community posts. Writing is staged: citation management and export are available, writing is in beta, and the LaTeX manuscript workspace is still in development.
