Swiftype is a hosted search platform, now owned and operated by Elastic (Elasticsearch, B.V.), that helps companies add a fast, relevant search experience to their website, app, or internal knowledge base without building or maintaining their own search infrastructure. Customers point Swiftype's crawler at a website (or push content via API), and it indexes pages, PDFs, and documents into a searchable "engine" with built-in relevance tuning, synonyms, analytics, and multilingual support. Swiftype is positioned as a direct alternative to the discontinued Google Site Search and Google Search Appliance products, and it's used for site search on ecommerce storefronts, publishing/media sites, and customer-support/help-center search. The product is SOC 2 compliant and offers a self-serve signup with a 14-day free trial (no credit card required) as well as higher-tier plans with enterprise SLAs, dedicated hardware, and a dedicated account manager. Swiftype was acquired by Elastic in 2017, and while Elastic has since built out its broader Elastic Enterprise Search / App Search suite, the swiftype.com site search product itself remains live with active self-serve signup and published pricing as of this review.

Pros & Cons
Pros
Self-serve setup with a 14-day free trial and no credit card required
Crawler-based indexing means no need to build custom search infrastructure
Built-in relevance tuning, synonyms, and multilingual support
SOC 2 compliant with documented security practices
Backed by Elastic, a major search-industry vendor, since its 2017 acquisition
Cons
Pricing scales quickly with usage (documents, queries, engines, and domains are all metered add-ons)
Standard plan only crawls weekly, which may be too slow for fast-changing content
Now a legacy product line under Elastic, whose enterprise search focus has shifted toward App Search/Enterprise Search on the Elastic Stack
Enterprise-grade features (dedicated hardware, account manager, custom SLA) are gated behind a custom-quoted Premium plan
