XNote is a note-taking system that pairs a smart pen and notebook, XNote Write, with the XNote app. You write in real ink, and each page appears in the app as text you can search, edit, ask questions about and turn into tasks. The app runs on iPhone, iPad, Android and the web.
A second product, XNote Voice, is a recorder that attaches to the back of a phone to capture calls. The company reports more than 22,000 note-takers in 96 countries and a 4.6 rating from 196 reviews of XNote products. These figures come from XNote's own site and are not independently verified.
An optical sensor in the pen reads a tiny pattern printed on XNote paper, either an XNote notebook or a page printed from the app. Every stroke lands on the right page in the app, live over Bluetooth. Away from your phone, the pen stores up to 1,000 pages and imports them when you reconnect.
The pen uses standard D1 ink and runs up to 17 hours per charge. The first pairing, handwriting-to-text and the AI features need an internet connection. On ordinary paper the pen does not sync, and printable pages require a laser printer at 600 dpi or better.
The app converts handwriting to editable text with one tap, keeps your original page including drawings, and supports search across every notebook. AI chat answers questions from your own pages, and summaries link back to the source. To-dos and dates you write are picked out as tasks and calendar events.
For audio, you can record in the room from your phone or send the meeting recorder to Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams meetings. It transcribes and emails a summary. Pages export as PDF, Word or Markdown, and the app supports more than 100 languages.
