What is Guidejar?

Guidejar is a documentation tool that converts a recorded process into a step-by-step guide, an interactive walkthrough or a video. Its pitch is simple: record a task once, then send a link instead of explaining it again. Teams use it for SOPs, product documentation, onboarding and support.

The product runs as a Chrome extension and as desktop apps for Mac and Windows. Finished guides can live in a searchable help center, be embedded on a website, or be pasted into tools such as Notion and Confluence. The company behind it is listed as AppMacha Labs.

How does Guidejar work?

The workflow has three steps. In the first, a user clicks Start Capture in the extension or desktop app and walks through the task while Guidejar records each interaction. Stopping the capture produces a guide with a screenshot and an instruction for every step.

In the second step, the author customizes the guide: editing steps, blurring sensitive details, adding pan and zoom, chapters, branching paths, branding and AI voiceover. In the third, the guide is shared by link or embed. Guidejar also accepts imports from PDFs, Word documents, web pages and screen recordings.

Key features of Guidejar

Each recording can be shown as a scroll view that lists every step or a walkthrough that shows one step at a time with a hotspot. Authors add conditional branching, dynamic variables, annotations, calls to action and an optional talking-head webcam bubble. Videos can be exported as MP4 with narration and subtitles.

Guidejar AI adds a writer called Nila that rewrites a whole guide in one pass, plus voiceover, translation into 30+ languages, generated FAQs and summaries, and automatic redaction of emails, account numbers and faces. Guidejar MCP lets Claude, ChatGPT and Grok create and search guides. An Assist me feature, marked Beta, opens beside the real app.
