MetaTrader 5 (MT5) is a multi-asset trading platform developed by MetaQuotes Ltd, positioned as "the industry standard for traders and brokers" for Forex and exchange markets. It supports trading in forex, stocks, and futures, and is available as free desktop applications for Windows and macOS, a browser-based web terminal, mobile apps for iOS and Android (including a Huawei AppGallery build), and Linux compatibility through third-party installation.
The platform offers technical analysis tools (up to 100 charts open at once across 21 timeframes, 38 built-in indicators, and 44 analytical graphic objects, with thousands more available via the Market and Code Base), fundamental analysis (an integrated economic calendar and financial news feeds), and a full trading system supporting both netting and hedging position accounting, multiple order types, and several execution modes (Instant, Request, Market, and Exchange), plus Market Depth for exchange-traded instruments.
For automated trading, MetaTrader 5 includes the MQL5 programming language with a full MetaEditor IDE and a Strategy Tester (with a visual testing mode) for building and backtesting trading robots and indicators, over 2,500 of which are available ready-made in the MetaTrader Market. Traders can also subscribe to Trading Signals to automatically copy other traders' positions, and use MetaTrader VPS hosting to keep automated strategies running 24/7 even when their own computer is offline. The platform interface is translated into 31 languages.
MetaQuotes states plainly that it is a software development company and does not itself provide investment or brokerage services — traders access MetaTrader 5 through a broker that offers it, and MetaQuotes also runs the separate Finteza analytics product for brokers.

Linux is only supported through third-party installation methods rather than a native MetaQuotes build
