NextPhone is an AI receptionist and answering service from Pure Labs Inc. It picks up a business's phone calls in two rings, qualifies the caller, transfers the call or takes a message, and books appointments directly into the owner's calendar.
The product is aimed mainly at law firms and service businesses, with industry pages for law firms, HVAC, contractors, real estate and accounting firms. Its pitch is that an answering service is a call center reading a script, while NextPhone is trained on the business and completes the work while the caller is still on the line.
The company says it is based in San Francisco and led by founder Yan Mellata, who previously founded the voice platform Kosy.
Setup has three steps. You enter your website so NextPhone can learn your services, hours and answers to common questions. You then set your rules: which calls to book, which to send to your team and which questions to ask every caller.
Finally, you make a test call and hear the agent yourself, then forward every call, or only calls when you are busy or closed. You keep your number and phone provider. The site describes Pro as live in about five minutes.
When a call arrives, the AI follows your rules. New leads can book a consultation, existing clients can be transferred to their contact, urgent calls can go to an on-call phone and after-hours calls get their own script. A summary is sent by text and email as soon as the call ends.
On the call itself, NextPhone asks custom intake questions, skips ones that do not fit, flags urgent matters and takes detailed messages. It can make warm transfers that tell you who is calling and why before you pick up. It answers in 14 languages, switching when the caller does, and offers 30 voices.
It handles multiple calls at once with no busy signal or hold music, recognizes returning callers and avoids repeating questions, and screens spam and robocalls.
Afterward, every call is recorded, transcribed and summarized and tagged by outcome. A web dashboard and iOS app are included, with a call analytics dashboard and real-time notifications. Higher plans add two-way texting, outbound calls and texts from your business number, and ad call tracking.

It targets small teams such as solo attorneys, accounting firms and contractors. The flat price and self-serve setup suit them, while Growth and Scale add done-for-you setup and custom routing.
It can, but the company says many businesses use it as a backup. It picks up when the front desk is busy, at lunch or closed.
