Redact is a privacy tool that bulk deletes posts, comments, likes and direct messages from social media and other online accounts. The site says it supports more than 35 platforms, including Discord, Reddit, Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Bluesky and Threads. It is available as a desktop and mobile app, with listings on the App Store and Google Play.
The company reports more than 1,000,000 users and a 4.4 rating on the App Store from over 3,000 ratings. A newer beta feature scans people-search sites and data brokers for a user's listings and requests removal. The company behind the product is listed as Redact Holdings, Inc.
Users connect an account through secure OAuth, and Redact scans the content on it. The interface shows counts, such as the messages on a Discord account, and lets users filter by date, keyword and content type before running a deletion. A preview mode shows what will be targeted before anything is removed.
Processing happens on the user's device. According to Redact, posts, messages and logins never reach its servers, and its own employees cannot see what gets deleted. An optional local archive saves a private copy of scanned or deleted content to the user's drive before it is removed.
Redact offers mass deletion, targeted deletion by keyword, date and content type (images, videos, links, embeds, sounds and files), and scheduled deletion at cadences such as every 3 months, 6 months or a year. Disappearing Mode sets a window, such as 30 days, and removes content once it ages past that point.
Paid tiers add editing with custom replacement text, which the site says helps against archive bots, plus Discord moderator tools and multi-account support. The data broker feature, in beta, finds listings on people-search sites, removes most automatically and gives the user opt-out steps for the rest. It is intended for US residents using the desktop app.
