What is Sign In App?

Sign In App is a visitor management and workplace access platform from Sign In App Ltd, part of Sign In Solutions Inc. It brings visitor sign-in, employee sign-in, desk and room booking, compliance records and emergency tools into one system. The company markets it as the Access Intelligence Platform and says more than 30,000 locations worldwide use it.

The product grew through acquisitions. The UK-based Sign In App was acquired in August 2021, and the company later added Traction Guest, ThreatSwitch, Pronestor, SCR Tracker, 10to8 Ltd for appointment scheduling, Smartspace PLC with the SwipedOn brand, and The Receptionist. These deals widened the product beyond sign-in into scheduling, compliance and space booking. The company is backed by PSG.

How does Sign In App work?

The company describes three stages of a visit. Before arrival, hosts invite guests, collect the required information and complete approvals. At the door, visitors check in themselves on an iPad kiosk, a smartphone or a Sign In Point QR code, receive a branded welcome and badge, and the host is notified immediately.

Across the day, the platform keeps a live view of who is on site at every location. Administrators configure fields, messages and branding in an online portal, while staff use the Sign In Companion app on iOS, Android or the web. Data can sync with directories, calendars and access control systems through built-in integrations, the API and webhooks.

Key features of Sign In App

Every subscription includes contactless sign-in, customizable fields and messages, employee and contractor sign-in, pre-registrations and approvals, delivery notifications, multi-language experiences, geofence auto sign-in and live shared evacuation reports. Notifications go out by email, mobile push, Teams and Slack, with custom rules available.

Enhanced and Pro add ID scanning, a registration portal, embedded signature PDFs and anonymized visit records. Add-ons cover Spaces for desk and meeting room booking, appointment scheduling, Time & Attendance and, for schools, Central Record compliance. Sign In App Tap, a multi-frequency RFID reader, can turn access cards into verified staff sign-in.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Unlimited employees, sign-ins, portal users and iPads are included in each per-site subscription, so usage does not raise the price.
  • Published annual prices for Core, Enhanced and Pro make budgeting straightforward.
  • Broad integration list covering access control, HR, calendars, chat and identity verification.
  • Free 15-day trial with all features, no credit card required.
  • Covers visitors, employees, desk booking, scheduling and evacuation in one platform.
  • Dedicated options for schools, including a Central Record add-on.

Cons

  • No free plan; evaluation is limited to a 15-day trial.
  • Pricing is per site, and each location with a different postcode needs its own subscription, so multi-site costs add up.
  • Add-ons such as Spaces, Scheduling and Time & Attendance cost extra, and hardware is priced separately.
  • Executive plan pricing is not published, and ID scanning, SSO and SCIM require higher tiers.
