SparkReceipt review: AI receipt scanner that matches receipts to bank lines and exports to QuickBooks and Xero. From $5.75/month, billed annually.

SparkReceipt is an AI receipt scanner and bookkeeping app for freelancers, self-employed people and small businesses that keep their own records. It captures receipts and invoices from a phone camera, an email inbox and file uploads, then reads each one with AI to pull out the merchant, date, total, tax and currency. It runs on iOS, Android and the web.
Beyond scanning, it extracts bank and credit card statements, matches each transaction to its receipt, tracks mileage, and exports reports or publishes to accounting software. It does not create invoices, run payroll or file tax returns. The company says it was founded in 2024 and reports 38,283 businesses using it as of September 2026.
Setup takes about 15 minutes and happens once. Users connect a Gmail, Outlook or IMAP mailbox so receipts and invoices arrive on their own, connect a bank (in the US) or schedule a monthly statement upload as PDF, CSV or Excel, and install the phone app for paper receipts and trips.
Each month the routine takes roughly ten minutes. The statement arrives and SparkReceipt pairs each bank line with a receipt by amount, date and merchant. The user confirms the matches, answers a few categorization questions in plain English that become automations, and sends the month to an accountant or publishes it to QuickBooks Online or Xero.
The scanner extracts merchant names, dates, totals, taxes and currencies in virtually any language, usually within 2-3 seconds, and supports 190 currencies. Email scanning imports only receipts and invoices, discards newsletters and promotions, and can reach back as far as the user chooses. Deduplication runs across connected inboxes and forwarded receipts, so history imports do not double up the books.
Other tools include a GPS and manual mileage tracker, trip reports, expense reports in PDF, Excel and CSV, and the SparkAgent assistant. Elite adds line-item extraction, AI Fields that define what is pulled from each document, plain-English AI rules, multiple inboxes and bank feeds, and a Schedule C export for US filers.
