What is FieldEx?

FieldEx is field service management (FSM) and maintenance management (CMMS) software in one platform. It covers work orders, dispatch, preventive maintenance, asset history, spare parts and compliance records on web and mobile. The company says the FSM and CMMS sides work together but can also run independently.

It is positioned for teams with 10 to 500 technicians and thousands of assets across many sites, while staying simple enough for small teams. FieldEx is headquartered in Singapore, with operations in Malaysia, and says it serves customers in 16 countries. Its stated origin is replacing WhatsApp groups, spreadsheets and paper job cards.

How does FieldEx work?

Work starts as a job, either created by staff or raised by someone scanning a QR code on equipment. Each job type has its own fields, steps and status flow. FieldEx can assign jobs automatically by skill, availability, shift, leave and service zone, and dispatchers can also drag jobs from a backlog onto a technician calendar.

Technicians open jobs on the mobile app, complete checklists, log parts used and capture a signature. A failed check can create a follow-up job. When the job closes, FieldEx builds a branded PDF with photos, timestamps and parts used, and the result is stored on the asset's history.

Key features of FieldEx

Preventive maintenance is a core strength. Plans can run by date, by meter reading such as run hours, or both, with fixed or floating schedules and automatic rescheduling of overdue jobs. Each asset keeps one record with job history, parts, plans and reliability data, and larger systems can be linked to their component parts.

Inventory is tracked by location, zone and bin, with a virtual bin for each technician and approved transfers. Other tools include a customer portal, public QR fault reporting, contracts and SLAs, tool tracking, and reports with a Power BI connector. Some of these depend on the plan tier.
