What is Mixmax?

Mixmax is a sales engagement platform that lives inside Gmail. Instead of moving users into a separate web application, it adds sequences, email tracking, scheduling and templates to the inbox through a Chrome extension. The company describes itself as an AI sales execution platform and says thousands of teams use it, from large organizations to one-person businesses.

The product is built for people whose job is getting replies: sellers, founders, agencies, consultants, brokers and talent agents. Mixmax says it works with or without a CRM, so a solo user can start in Gmail and add Salesforce or HubSpot sync later.

How does Mixmax work?

A user adds the extension from the Chrome Web Store, signs in with Gmail, imports a contact list and picks a template to launch a sequence. A sequence is a series of emails, calls, tasks and LinkedIn steps that sends on schedule and stops as soon as the recipient replies.

Emails are sent through the user's own Gmail account rather than a bulk server, which the company says helps outreach land where normal email from that person lands. Opens, clicks and replies appear in a live feed in a sidebar next to the inbox, so reps can see who is engaged and follow up while interest is fresh.

Key features of Mixmax

Tracking is per person. Mixmax shows who opened, how many times and who replied, and includes a saved search called Opened, unreplied. Smart Send suggests a send time based on when each recipient has opened emails before, and users can accept it or choose their own.

Scheduling lets users embed availability in an email, share booking pages, send reminders and book for teammates. Templates, polls, snippets and follow-up reminders speed up everyday email. AI features include AI Compose, Signals, Inbox Categorization and AI meeting notes, and the Mixmax MCP allows users to build sequences and send tracked emails from Claude or ChatGPT.

Team features include Sidechat for collaborating in Gmail, delegated sending, CRM sync, reporting and analytics.

  • Free plan and a 14-day trial of paid plans make it easy to test before paying.

  • Sequences cover email, calls, tasks and LinkedIn steps and stop automatically when someone replies.
  • Setup takes three steps with no onboarding call, and it works with or without a CRM.
  • SOC 2 Type II, GDPR and HIPAA safeguards are offered on every plan, including the trial.

Cons

  • The free plan is capped at 50 recipients a month and has a limited feature set.
  • Pricing is per user and based on recipient volume, so costs rise quickly for high-volume teams.
  • Add-ons such as custom branding, advanced workspace rules, Salesforce Insights and Dialer cost extra, and Dialer calling is billed per minute.
