Didon is an AI time tracker and work log generator for Mac. Instead of asking users to start and stop timers, it observes the screen in the background and records what the user is working on, assigning time to projects and activity categories.
It was built by Babak, a software engineer who worked mostly remotely and wanted analytics for his own workdays. The product aims to answer questions such as how much real work happens in a day and what was done last week, using an automatically generated journal.
Setup starts with context. Users list their active projects, such as Acme Website or Didon, and choose activity categories like Coding, Social Media or Content Creation. The AI uses this list to categorize work. Anything that does not match a project is labeled Other.
Once monitoring starts, Didon captures a screenshot every 30 seconds. A local language model on the Mac reads window titles, visible text and tab names, then writes a structured entry such as refactoring dashboard widgets in Cursor. The company says screenshots and logs never leave the device. The model loads for each cycle, uses about 2 GB of RAM, then unloads.
The core feature is automatic task detection. Didon identifies apps, windows, file names and tasks, rather than reporting only that time was spent in a browser. It also auto-launches with the system and pauses when the Mac sleeps, so idle time stays out of the totals.
Reporting covers daily logs with time per project and category, saved locally as CSV, plus a Report tab with trends. Paid plans add dashboard charts, weekly and monthly breakdowns and an AI-written daily report. An Ask feature lets users query their logs in plain language.

Didon has a free plan, an AI Work Tracker plan at €9 per month and an AI Work Manager plan at €20 per month. Team employee monitoring is promoted separately, with no price shown.
Yes. The free plan includes automatic AI tracking, daily logs and smart categories with one week of history, and requires no credit card. It has no export option and no productivity metrics.
Didon states that screenshots are analyzed locally on the Mac and are not uploaded to its servers. Logs are saved in a local Documents/Didon folder, and nothing is shared unless the user exports it.
Currently only Macs with Apple Silicon (M1 or later). A Windows version is in development, and the company invites users to join a waitlist.
Yes. Daily logs are saved locally as CSV, and the AI Work Tracker plan includes unlimited CSV exports for client billing or reporting. Direct invoicing with rate calculations and PDFs is described as planned, not available.
Not yet. Didon currently works as a standalone app, and native integrations with Jira, Asana and Linear are on the roadmap.
According to Didon, Clockify needs manual timers and RescueTime tracks apps without understanding the task. Didon uses AI to tag activity to projects automatically from screen content.
